Around the World in 80 Days is the BBC’s new adventure drama and is based on the novel of the same title by Jules Verne and stars David Tennant in the lead role.
Tennant will play Phileas Fogg who is betting he can go around the world in just 80 days.

At his side in this epic adventure, his new valet Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma), on the run after having fought in a kitchen, and the journalist Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch).
Phileas will have to draw on his clever creations and inventions throughout his journey and the series is set in 1872. The trio will travel on horses, boats, trains, camels and a hot air balloon to get to France, Italy, India, Hong Kong, a desert island, San Francisco, New York, Liverpool and London.
Han Zimmer, who created the soundtracks for The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean, and Christian Lundberg will compose the music to bring the drama to life.
The series will have eight episodes and will debut Boxing Day on BBC One.

David Tennant as Phileas Fogg
The main character Phileas Fogg, who has everything to lose and a lot to gain from this adventure, is the well-known and popular actor David Tennant.
David is best known for playing The Doctor in Doctor Who from 2005-2010 and for starring in hard-hitting dramas such as ITV’s Broadchurch and the Des miniseries.
Leonie Benesch as Abigail Fix
Leonie Benesch plays Abigail Fix, the journalist who documents and accompanies Phileas, and the actress has previously starred in The Crown and Babylon Berlin.
The German actress was born in Hamburg in 1991 and has also appeared on the big screen, notably in the war film The White Ribbon.
Ibrahim Koma as Passepartout
Passepartout, who escaped the troubles of a fight in the kitchen, is Phileas’s new valet, played by Ibrahim Koma.
The French actor has appeared in films such as From Africa with Love and As Far as I Can Walk. He has also won awards for his acting, including Best Actor at the International African Film Festival.
Peter Sullivan as Nyle Bellamy
Phileas’ dubious childhood friend Peter Sullivan is Peter Sullivan, who has appeared in many successful TV shows such as Poldark, MotherFatherSon and The Accident.
Peter has also performed extensively on stage in plays such as King Lear and Richard III.
Shivaani Ghai as Aouda
Aouda is an Indian princess who is saved by Phileas and her friends after she is about to be sacrificed to the Hindu gods since the death of her husband.
As Aouda, Shivaani Ghai starred in Doctors and EastEnders where she played Ayesha Rana.
Rizelle Januk as Samanaz
Rizelle Januk will play Samanaz and has previously starred in The Scorpion King: Book of Souls and Kings of Mulberry Street films.
Walter van Dyk as Lord Crossley
Lord Crossley will be played by Walter van Dyk who has been performing since the early 2000s and has also performed on stage.
He has appeared in Birds of a Feather, Framed and Can’t Stop Me Dreaming.
Anthony Flanagan as Thomas Kneedling
As Thomas Kneedling, Anthony Flanagan is best known for his role as Tony in Channel 4’s Shameless.
He has also appeared in Casualty, Holby City, and Doctor Who. Recently he starred in the hit Netflix series The Crown.
Around the World in 80 Days begins Boxing Day on BBC One at 5:50 p.m.
