A Very British Scandal airs tonight and the cast of the new BBC drama is sure to feature some purebred British actors.
The story centers on the actual divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, one of the most notorious, extraordinary and brutal legal cases of the 20th century.

He has a cast with high profile faces, a Gavin & Stacey legend, and recognizable UK TV actors.
Duchess of Argyll – Claire Foy
Playing the lead role of Margaret, Claire Foy is back in mid-century mode after two years as Queen in The Crown on Netflix.
Claire also starred in the films First Man, Girl in the Spider’s Web, and Unsane.
Duke of Argyll – Paul Bettany
Over the past decade, Paul has been seen primarily as Vision in the Marvel Avengers movies and TV spin-offs, WandaVision.
But on top of that, he’s had a number of famous roles including The Creepy Monk in The Da Vinci Code, and alongside Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind and Master and Commander. Recently he also starred in the TV series Manhunt and was Dryden Voss in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Maureen Marquise de Dufferin – Julia Davis
Julia Davis is probably recognizable as Pam and Mick’s neighbor Dawn in Gavin & Stacey.
But the clever dark comedy writer is more than Dawn, she’s written (and starred in) comedy shows like Nighty Night, Hunderby, Camping, and Sally4Eva.
Yvonne McPherson – Amanda Drew
RADA-trained Amanda has recently been seen in high-profile dramas including Gangs of London, The Trial of Christine Keeler, Chernobyl and Broadchurch.
Recently she starred in the Bristol comedy, The Outlaws.
Dora – Olwen May
Olwen has appeared in 29 episodes of Coronation Street playing six different characters! Most recently, she was a judge in the Seb Franklin murder case.
George Emslie QC – Oliver Chris
A widely used character actor who has played roles in Green Wings, The IT Crowd, The Office, Breathless, Bluestone 42, Motherland and more.
Janet – Sophie Ward
Famous with 80s kids as the star of Young Sherlock Holmes and Return to Oz, Sophie has most recently been seen in Land Girls, Holby, Heartbeat and The Moonstone.
His father is actor Simon Ward who played the role of the Duke of Buckingham in the Three Musketeers films in the 1970s.
Diana Napier Wolkowicki – Camilla Rutherford
Camilla’s resume includes roles in Gosford Park, Phantom Thread, The Darjeeling Limited, and the Beatles film Yesterday.
George Wigham – Richard McCabe
Scottish actor Richard is another regular on British television with recent roles in Poldark, Collateral, Wallander, The Great Fire and he was Winston Churchill of Peaky Blinders.
You’ll also see him in the Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts and John Simm.
A Very British Scandal airs at 9 p.m. Boxing Day, December 27-28 on the BBC and is available to stream on iPlayer after the first episode airs.
