A capybara stunned viewers by jumping over a pool wall twice its height in a viral video.

The animal, which is kept as a pet in Buenos Aires, was filmed by its owner as it burst from the ground to cannonball into the back garden pool in one quick motion.

The video was uploaded to TikTok where it has been viewed millions of times and prompted amazed remarks from viewers who said they had ‘no idea’ the capybara could jump so high.

The fencing in the video is twice the size of the capybara

Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world, measuring up to 100 in length, 60 cm in height and weighing between 35 and 65 kg when fully grown.

They also have webbed feet, which makes them excellent swimmers.

The 10-second video shows the capybara walking towards a pool on its owner’s estate.

The animal sniffs the plastic pool one or two times, before gently pushing on its hind legs.

With one elegant stroke, the animal leaps and reaches the top of the pool fence, which is about twice its height.

With its legs simply grazing against the fence, the capybara continues to dive into the pool, splashing the water around it.

Capybaras can be as agile in water as they are on land, so the animal had no problem taking a relaxing dip in the pool.

The capybara’s leap has gone viral, with dozens of people stunned by its athleticism.

“I love capys but it’s a bit unsettling,” said one.

‘What???? I’m shocked,” said another.

‘HOW? ‘OR’ WHAT????? it’s like how my cats jump like how can they do that,’ one asked.

“I didn’t even think they could practice, let alone jump.” I’m sure he took a nap afterwards,” one wrote.

“That’s so cute, how did he jump so high with those little little legs,” one asked.
